Sacred Devadaru Tree:
The sacred Indian Cedar tree, or Devadaru tree, is referred to as Cedrus Deodara in Sanskrit. The word ‘Devadaru’ in Sanskrit means ‘God’s Tree’, incorporating the words ‘Deva’, which means divine or godly, and ‘Daru’, which means tree. Hence, the Devadaru tree is also known as the “God’s Tree.” This sacred tree has been revered by Hindus since ancient Vedic times and is often associated with numerous mythological stories. The Devadaru tree is believed to bestow various virtues and qualities such as spiritual power, authority, leadership qualities, strength, courage, victory, fortune, wealth, and good physical health. It is often found in the vicinity of the abode of Goddess Lakshmi. This divine tree is believed to possess purifying properties, and its leaves are used in the preparation of various herbal incense powders and sticks.
For centuries, Devadaru has been used in traditional Ayurvedic and Siddha medicine for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties. The essential oil extracted from Devadaru tree and its leaves is used to treat various ailments such as cold, cough, skin diseases, and muscular pain, among others.
Benefits of Devadaru Garland:
The Devadaru garland is considered sacred as it is believed to attract and preserve powerful, subtle energies in the universe. The garland is made by stringing the segments of the Devadaru tree’s bark into beads or using the resin from the tree to create the garland. Wearing the Devadaru garland is believed to bestow qualities such as spiritual power, authority, leadership, strength, courage, victory, fortune, and good physical health. It is also known to reduce the effects of solar eclipses. Moreover, it helps in reducing fatigue, lack of courage, lack of self-confidence, lack of self-respect, laziness, and lack of initiative, while enhancing determination and promoting vision. Both men and women can wear the Devadaru garland. It can be used for meditation, reciting mantras, and can also be adorned around the idols of deities.
Method of Wearing Devadaru Garland:
To wear the Devadaru garland, soak it in clean water for some time after initially washing it with milk. Then, string it into a garland using a thread or a string made of cotton or wool and wear it around the neck.
